Requirement for ICMR Project Staff

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) identifies Neonatal Mortality as a National Health Research priority. lt is clearly evidenced that implementation research into the government programs can identify and addresses their bottlenecks, and identify strategies for implementation of new evidence based interventions known to improve newborn survival. ICMR, is coordinating an implementation research initiative titled, “Sankalp- Strengthening Program implementation and Monitoring to Achieve Single digit Neonatal Mortality”, at 10 districts in India with high NMR, representing 4 Empowered Action Group states and 5 other states, these are, Unnao (UP), Varanasi(UP), Haridwar(UK),  Purnea (Bihar), Dungarpur (Raiasthan), Koppal (Karnataka) Adilabad (Telangana), Murshidabad (West Bengal), Ambala (Haryana), Khargone (Madhya Pradesh). The study will be conducted in three phases- formative research to identify barriers in implementation, co-development of strategies and implementation of solutions in partnership with the local health system.

Swami Rama Himalayan University has been awarded to implement SANKALP project in Haridwar district in collaboration with State Health System and ICMR. Haridwar is one of the largest district and has low-performing health indicators in Uttarakhand. Annually, more than 35000 births take place in Haridwar. But unfortunately there is no Newborn Stabilization Unit (NBSU) and Specialist Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) functional across the district. In result of this, 20 stillbirth per 1000 and 26 newborns per 1000 die annually in the district which is around 77% of total infant deaths. It is crucial to imrove the survival conditions and facilities through the NBSU and SNCU.

Candidates are invited to their applications for the ICMR project titled “Sankalp : Strengthening Program Implementation and Monitoring to Achieve Single-digit Neonatal Mortality″ on contract basis at the HIMS, Swami Rama Himalayan University, Dehradun against the post as detailed below
